Comfort Arthur’s Black Barcode is a short, powerful and informative film. Under a four-minute stretch, the film focuses on the concept of open-minded beauty. The narration is wonderful; the experiment has a poetic quality well combined with on-screen displays. Using a mixture of animation and collage, Arthur says the story is a meaningful and memorable way.
Ancestors Came tells the history of civil rights activist Faith Ringgold. The film by Cecile Emeke includes images from Ringgold and images of Harlem, the key to the artist’s work. The use of music plays an important role in setting the period for these memories. Emeke’s work has been secured and created a short film that wants to know more about the audience.
